Young Yvette is arrested for petty shoplifting. André, a successful and married lawyer, takes on the role of defense lawyer for the girl, who becomes his lover. André gives her gifts of jewels and furs, but he cannot "buy" her heart which belongs to the handsome young student Mazetti. André's relationship suddenly becomes a horrible and self-destructive experience.
