In a mountain village of Epirus, Lazaros is accidentally killed while hunting. The tragedy shakes deeply the local community -but the birth of his child brings a flicker of joy back into their lives. Young Lazaros grows up, falls in love and marries Haido. Yet poverty forces the couple to emigrate. The bond with his homeland slowly fades, but time moves in circles - and his grandson, who bears his name, finds himself walking the same path, carrying the legacy of his ancestors.
The new, eleventh feature film by the acclaimed director is a lyrical elegy to memory, identity, loss and migration — to a land that transforms and is lost along with its people.
Filmed entirely in Epirus, the film combines poetic simplicity with a stark visual language, offering a deeply personal and timely portrait of a Europe slowly losing touch with its roots.
The film will make its international premiere in the Competition Section of the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival in Iran. The film's lead actor, Alexandros Davris, was awarded the FOS Award for Best New Actor at the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
