A famous Spanish actor, Julio Arenas, disappears during the filming of a movie. Many years later, the mystery comes to the surface once again because of a TV show, and his very good friend, Miguel, who is also a director, takes it upon himself to solve it. The great Víctor Erice, creator of the timeless masterpiece “The Spirit of the Beehive”, returns after a thirty-year absence to record the most personal film of his career. Melancholic, painstaking, poetic and at the same time idiosyncratic detective film, this masterful movie crosses genres, shows its love for cinema itself and is received by the world critics as an important, modest and warm filmic gesture. Having premiered at Cannes, Toronto and the BFI London Film Festival, it has earned its place on lists of the best films of 2023.
