In 1954, young communists Eleni and Babis fall in love in Thessaly. Political persecution tears them apart. They reunite in 1966 and finally fulfill their love. Soon after, both are arrested by the dictatorship, and Eleni gives birth to their son in prison. The regime imposes their marriage — with their child as best man. The fall of the junta brings freedom…
Based on a true story, Pantelis Voulgaris’ masterpiece tells, through a doomed love, of the historical and personal tragedies that scarred Greece for decades after the civil war. The “stone years” — when hatred destroyed homeland, families, youth, and lives. Yet faith and love remain powerful weapons. Excellent performances by the leading duo.
