Beyond The Time Barrier

1960 | USA | B&W | 74’

Dir.:  Edgar G. Ulmer | Scr.: Arthur C. Pierce | Cast: Robert Clarke, Darlene Tompkins, Vladimir Sokoloff.

A pilot takes off in the experimental fighter jet X80, aiming to set a new altitude record by reaching the stratosphere. Unfortunately, his plane passes through a strange portal between dimensions and finds himself in the year 2024, when a nuclear disaster has reduced all human civilization to ruins. There he gets captured as a spy, only to be rescued by the beautiful, mute, and telepathic Tairin.

Czech director Edgar Ulmer, who achieved cult status in the 1960s thanks to his successful B movies, shot the film on the same sets as the equally low-budget The Invisible Man. Both films were shot in just two weeks.
