Starring Catherine Deneuve and G\u00e9rard Depardieu, both delivering magnetic performances as Marion and Bernard respectively, the film is a love letter to the art of theater and a tribute to the spirit of the resistance during World War II, using the confined backstage set as a stage for heroism and resilience. The thoughtful, well-crafted, and emotionally resonant score by Georges Delerue serves both as a narrative vehicle and a reverent ode to the enduring power of theater.
